We all want to make a difference in the world and in the lives of others. You may have a dream or picture of what your life could be, but are not sure the best way to start working towards your dream and bringing it to completion. Before we can start making an impact, we have to get our lives organized. As your schedule starts to fill up, it will be easy to become “busy” and less productive. I want to share some practical tips on how to become more productive.
Use a calendar. A single calendar. Not a paper calendar combined with a digital calendar on your phone…just one singular calendar! A friend showed me his calendar when I was in college and it was a game changer. He was and still is incredibly organized. Here’s why a calendar is so important: it reveals what’s required/is valuable to you. Going to class, your job, family functions, etc may not be negotiable, but what you do outside of those times is where the magic happens.
Less is more. You may be thinking “how is less more?” The more we pile on our schedule, the more stressed out we can become, and the less we accomplish. You’re only one person and you cannot be at every event/social function you’re invited to. You control your schedule…don’t let it or other people control what you do with your time. It’s the one thing we can’t get back, so use it wisely.
Track your goals. I want you to crush your goals. If you’re not tracking your progress towards them, how do you know how much progress you’ve made? We build our confidence by seeing tasks completed. Tracking your goals means that you have to create goals to track. Where do you see yourself in 2 years? Do you want to save up a certain amount of money? Take the time to write them down and then start to create a plan around them.
You can do this!
